Meet Sid

Sid2With more than 30 years experience in corporate, education and agency public relations, Sid Robinson is managing partner of Robinson and Associates, LLC, a strategic communications firm focused on crisis communications, strategic messaging and branding, media relations, social media, message development and media training.

Robinson, whose award-winning career has covered a wide range of corporate, nonprofit and agency public relations roles, transitioned to The 20/20 Network in 2014 after a long and effective tenure as associate vice president for public affairs at California State University, San Bernardino from 2002-2014. He launched Robinson and Associates later in 2014.

Throughout his career, he has managed a variety of
communications programs covering many industries and
disciplines, from strategic planning and media relations to media training, crisis communications and issues management.

Among other noted accomplishments, Robinson was instrumental in orchestrating the appearance by President George W. Bush at the Los Angeles County Fair during the 2000 presidential campaign. Sid generated national media attention for an authentic cattle drive through local city streets. He played an integral role in the launch of the Los Angeles Angels new red uniforms, and he was influential in gaining front page coverage about CSUSB’s Palm Desert Campus in the Sunday New York Times.05-02-11 Justice Kennedy visit to PDC   Photo by Robert A. Along with cultivating positive news coverage, he also has overseen crisis communications. Sid was responsible for emergency notifications in a variety of settings, including the death of a horse racing jockey, a fatal campus shooting and a fire that resulted in a weeklong university closure. He also has developed message points for plant closures and delivered devastating news about the death of a beloved company CEO and community leader.

As associate vice president for public affairs at Cal State San Bernardino, Robinson oversaw the university’s Office of Public Affairs, managing communications, media relations, branding, and publications activities. He served on the president’s cabinet and was involved in university policy-making decisions.

Previously, Sid was account director at Magnet Communications, providing public relations counsel and working with clients such as Technicolor, the Los Angeles Angels, Caltrans and Master-Halco.

Robinson served as communications and public relations manager at Fairplex, where he earned numerous awards for his public relations programs for the Los Angeles County Fair.

Robinson also was a broadcasting and publications assistant for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

An active member of his community, Robinson currently serves on the city of Upland’s Planning Commission and is co-chair of Fairplex’s Upland community committee.

Robinson is APR-accredited by the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA). He served on the board of directors of the PRSA California Inland Empire Chapter for nearly a decade and was chapter president in 2001-2002. In addition, he was the chapter’s national assembly delegate also served on PRSA’s Western District board of directors.

His public relations programs and projects were recognized with “Best of Show” honors from both the PRSA California Inland Empire Chapter and Public Communicators of Los Angeles. He also is a past winner of the Press Club of Southern California’s public relations sweepstakes award an unprecedented four times, and he has won numerous PRSA chapter Polaris Awards.972249_10151622121918813_427894524_n

He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, and a Master of Arts in Public Relations from the University of Southern California, where he was named “Graduate Student of the Year” by the Trojan Fourth Estate.
